Buffalo Gap: Big Country Hall of Fame

April 13 at 11:00am to at 12:30pm

Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame

People in Texas are proud of their sports traditions, and nowhere more than in the Big Country. To honor those traditions, a special museum, the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame, was established in Abilene.  For our April Chautauqua presentation, you have the opportunity to meet in person with one of the leading lights of the museum, Al Pickett, the chair of the museum’s board of directors.  You probably already know Al as a former editor of the sports pages of the Abilene Reporter-News and a longtime commentator on Texas sports, as well as the author of Team of the Century and The Greatest Texas Sports Stories You’ve Never Heard, both published by our own State House Press. He’ll talk about the Hall of Fame, the museum located in downtown Abilene, the class of 2013, and some of the remarkable history of sports in this area. This is a treat no sports aficionado will want to miss!
