Abilene: The Chautauqua Learning Series: Guest Speaker Michael Parker

August 9, 2014 - 11:00am to 12:00pm

In the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, the Chautauqua Movement spread throughout the rural United States. Chautauqua provided educational lectures and entertainment for average Americans before the advent of mass media such as radio and television. In continuing with the educational mission of the Village, we are proud to offer to the public our acclaimed Chautauqua Learning Series.

This Saturday, Michael Parker will be speaking on Texas Rangers of Today. His program will share about the duties and responsibilities of today's Texas Rangers versus the Texas Rangers of the past.

Parker received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from Texas Lutheran University.  He was employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from 1992 to 1997; then with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Trooper from 1997 to 2008 and then promoted to Texas Ranger from 2008 to present.
