Jacksboro: Jack County Driving Tour

October 12 at 10:00am to at 4:00pm

We are sponsoring our second annual Historical Driving Tour on Saturday, October 12 and believe it will be a worthwhile and fun event for all who are interested in Texas history. Jack County has a colorful past and seeing these sites in person will make history come alive. There are six main sites on this self-paced driving tour. There are many other sites to be viewed along the way. Those attending will be given an audio CD detailing the stories of these sites as well as a map and driving directions.

A member of the Jack County Historical Commission will greet you at each site. Your tour will include several of the more infamous Indian raids of the area including the Cambern-Mason Indian Massacre and the Lost Valley Fight. Other locations on the tour include a frontier burial site, a panoramic view of the Lost Valley area, a frontier fort and the birthplace of Texas 4-H.

The tour will be held Saturday, October 12th during the hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 for each adult and $2.00 for each child age 6-15. Tickets will be available prior to and the day of the tour at the Jack County Museum, Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and Fort Richardson.
