Eleventh Annual Pioneer Day

The Jack County Museum is sponsoring the eleventh annual Pioneer Day -- a living history celebration complete with demonstrations, activities, and exhibits of the early Texas settlers. The event is free. The fundraiser helps maintain and support the museum and tickets are available for the authentic Chuck Wagon lunch prepared by award winning Shirley Richardson of the "rafter L Chuck Wagon." Also available will be home-made ice cream and lemonade and trailer and quilt raffles. Performing will be Cowboy Balladeer Stan Mahler, Cowboy Poet Lee Wylie Burch, singer Beverly Solomon, and the Cross Timbers Band. There will be soap making, chair and basket weaving, quilting bees, candle making, butter churning, whittling, block powder guns, corn grinding, frontier wash day, hawking, storytelling and much more. The celbration will be held 10-3 at the museum, 241 West Belknap in Jacksboro, Texas two blocks west of the Courthouse Square. Parking is adjacent the museum.
