San Angelo: 16th Annual Stribling Art Extravaganza

March 27, 2015 - 10:00am to March 29, 2015 - 2:00pm

Attendees at the 16th annual Stribling Art Extravaganza are in for special activities during the weekendshow and sale March 27-29 at historic Fort Concho in San Angelo.

Celebrating its 16th year, Stribling Art Extravaganza will showcase 175 Concho Valley Artists and Artisans March 27-29, 2015 at historic Fort Concho’s Quartermaster, Commissary and Barracks 6 buildings. The public show and sale is free and open to the public. Since its beginning, Stribling Art Extravaganza has raised over $800,000 for WTRC and continues to serve as a great outlet to feature local talent.

Featuring pieces of original art from a variety of mediums including oil, watercolor, pottery, mixed media, pastels, sculpture, drawing, fiber, glass, wood, clay and photographs, this show will have something for everyone. Guests can come and enjoy the art Friday March 27 from 10-7, Saturday March 28 from 9-6 and Sunday March 29 from 11-2. Every piece will be for sale and supporting this show not only benefits the Rehab Center, but supports the local artists. “It’s a partnership” says Justin DeLoach, Donor Relations Coordinator for WTRC. “The artists graciously agree to a portion of the sale of their art to come back to the Rehab. Those dollars directly go back to our patients we see each day here at the Rehab Center.”

In addition to the 285 piece showcased, there are special events which take place throughout the weekend. Up and coming artists are featured from local High Schools in the show’s Young Artist Display. While this art is not for sale, it is a great reflection of future artists learning all the different strokes of art. On Saturday, Ellen Myer and KB Brown will provide “Music with the Art” at 2:00 PM in the Quartermaster building. Also, during 12:00-5:00pm Saturday, “Paint the Fort Grounds” will feature 2015 Stribling Artists as the artists will be working on different pieces in person. This is a great way to meet some of our local talent along with having the chance to visit with them about their art. All these events are free and open to the public.

The Stribling Art Extravaganza is graciously sponsored by Beverly and Ben Stribling. The show’s name proudly displays the Stribling’s love for art and local artists. “This event is a great example of neighbor helping neighbor. It is our pleasure to offer such an event to local artists as we partner together to make a difference in the lives of family, friends and our community,” comments President/CEO of WTRC Woody Gilliland.
