Abilene: Frontier Texas!

Located in downtown Abilene, Frontier Texas! offers visitors a state-of-the-art, multi-media extravaganza depicting the lively mythology of the Texas frontier. Aided by technology and a fourteen thousand square-foot facility, visitors experience wolf attacks, stampeding bison, shootouts, and thunderstorms. Actors portraying frontier personalities guide the audience through interactive exhibits, vignettes of frontier life, and the “Big Picture” where an entire hundred-year history is consolidated into less than five minutes! The Visitor Center kiosk covers everything a Texas Forts Trail traveler needs to know about the region including hotels, restaurants, museums, historical sites, and attractions at the touch of the screen. This entertaining tourist destination also includes a full-size tipi, the Bee Hive Saloon, a four hundred and sixty one foot mural, gift shop, and a replica of “Amigo”, the 1998 world Champion Steer with a horn length of almost nine feet. The “Information Station”, a touch screen display of documents, photographs, drawings, graphics, sounds, and activities depict the many facets of a Texas frontier for folks who have time to discover and enjoy. You can even learn cowboy jargon and listen to bugle calls with musical notations. Revelry!
