Buffalo Gap: Old Taylor County Courthouse

This courthouse, constructed in 1880, is located in Buffalo Gap, Taylor County's original county seat. This designation was transferred to Abilene when it became a major shipping center along the Texas and Pacific Railway, and the courthouse was no longer used for governmental activities. Today, the Taylor County Courthouse and jail rest on their original sites inside Buffalo Gap Historic Village. Visitors can tour this building as part of their visit to the Village.
